Tane Mahuta

This week after Hui we go into are CIP groups. Once we go changed into other clothes such as our PE gear we headed down to the back of the school. We all parted to what we were meant to do some went to the outside class and others went with mark to prune trees. The rest of us went to the same place we weeded last week. In the place we panted plants little weeds had grown so we had to pull them out without harming the plants  

In the time we had finished it was morning tea witch meant that once we came back we would have more people because they would be coming back from Kapa Haka and kiwi kaha. After morning tea ended we had a choice to plant in the same place we weeded or to weed in the same space but different area. Hope and I chose to weed after a little while Kody joined. At 11:30 my class had to go kiwi kaha while others were planting broccoli and celery. I hope next week I can be there to plant.

Yesterday an author came to our school, thanks to AL's reading group. Her Name Ella West, her books that I have read are Night Vision & Rain Fall. 

Night Vision is about a girl named Viola. She had a genetic condition called XP/Xeroderma pigmentosum .

You are probably thinking XP is fake & a disease but like I said before XP is a genetic condition also very real. 

XP means she can't go out in the the sun and if she did she could die.

One night Viola happen to be out in the forest near her house when she witnessed a murder. 

A body put in a car & the car being set on fire. 

You may be wondering how Ella knew about this. well she watched a documentary about XP and wanted to make an awareness.

Steven King stole the money plot Ella wrote in Night Vision. 

Ella set the story in Ashburton because at the time she was writing Night vision at 2011 the earthquakes were happening in Christchurch and she wanted the main focus to be on the murder. 

    Ella try's to write 1000 words a day

Caren Trebilcock is Ella West's real name she also has another other job as journalist.

Because writing books doesn't pay well. 

I bet your wondering if writing doesn't pay well why does she do it well Ella writes because she enjoys it   

Ella is currently writing a book called sound of my hart.

Ella west try's to make her books have 5000 words.

Ella's mum thinks that she is the mum in all of Ella's books .

Music (Instrumental Industries)

This week in Music (Instrumental Industries) we had to do a DLO about music through the decades. The decade I did were 2010s, 2000s, 1990s, 1980s, 1970s and 1960s. 

Trash

Over the past Term and around about a half a Term My class 7/8 AL have been reading a novel called Trash.

 Trash is about tree poor boys who lived in Behala Raphael Rat also known as (Jun-jun) and Gardo. 

They had to work together to get money that was berried under a man (who the police killed) daughter's name.

 so they decided they were going to give father Julliard some due to the fact rat stole some only to help his friends and give some to the little girl.

 We first heard about Raphael and Gardo when they were telling us about where they work and what the do. 

Then we hear of Rat because of Raphael and Gardo finding a leather bag that had money and ID in it. 

That bag had to be important because the police were trying to find. 

So they hid the bag at Rats house then they went on the run because Rapheal got taken by the cops.

 They bet him up and threaten to drop him out the window (the same thing the did to the father of the little girl Pia Dante)

. At the end of the book they get the money and take some for them and Pia Dante and leave the rest there. 

They took Pia Dante because they didn't want her to be lonely and on her own and have no family because they are all dead. 

So they took her with them and looked after her. 

Music

                                   Today in Music Hurumanu we did things along the lines of instruments and famous singers. We wrote down definitions for the instrument families. There are 4 different instrument families called woodwind, brass, string, percussion and orchestra.  Here's the slideshow to my famous singer who is Buddy Holly:

We had to dig a whole and put horse poo mixed with vegetable pealing and mashed banana in the whole. We then covered the whole with the soil and turn the soil to mix it all together. We put the horse poo mixed with vegetable pealing and mashed banana in the soil because its compos and also organic so it helps the soils health.

In the time we had finished it was morning tea witch meant that once we came back we would have more people because they would be coming back from Kapa Haka and kiwi kaha. After morning tea ended we were weeding the green house near were we mixed the soil. Shontelle and I worked together to pull out a really difficult weed eventually we got it out or at least as much as we could. We were also taking out the broken pieces of concrete.
When my class went to kiwi kaha others were planting spinach, celery and coriander. I hope next week I can be there to plant.       

Maori

In Maori we have been doing stuff related to food. Yesterday we learnt how to make a hangi Hope and I worked together to make a list of instruction to make one.

 Did you know the in the Pacific they have a umu and in Hawaii they have something a lot similar umu and hangi but its called a luao?
As we have been learning about hangis I've learnt about all the layers.
Once when I was in primary I have tried a hangi I enjoyed it and I would eat it again.
When some people have hangi they take the top rock off to feed the spirit of Matariki.
