Dear Ella,

My name is Addyson and I’m a year 8 student at Hornby High.
Last term my teacher, Mrs Allan Fletcher picked a book for my reading group. The book she chose for us happened to be Night Vision I loved this book a lot, It was interesting, mysterious and awesome.
If I had known about this book a long time ago I would have definitely have read it already.
Sadly I know that you are not doing a sequel for Night Vision but if you were what do you think you would write it about?
If you were Viola what do you think would be your biggest fear and why?
Can you remember how long it took you to write this book?
What was the hardest part of writing Night Vision and while you were writing this book did you connect with any of the characters or feel like you made a bond with him or her?
How old were you when to first decided to write books and did you ever have doubts about the career you went with?
When you were a little girl did you read a lot of books and which one was your favourite?
My favourite book is the goosebumps books.
Then you were younger what was your dream career?
This term my teacher has chosen rain fall I’m super excited to read this book. I hope it is as good as Night Vision

Hi Addyson
The main reason I won’t write a sequel to Night Vision is because in it Viola will be older and so probably she will be dying of her condition and I don’t want to write a story about a dying kid because it would be so sad (think about me writing it – I would be crying every day!) I think dying from XP is her biggest fear, but she doesn’t admit it. She knows it will happen and tries to deal with it but it’s so scary and awful and sad.
From memory it took about six months to write the book then several years (yes, years) to get it edited, proofed and published. The book industry takes forever! Writing the story is the easy part!
I read heaps of books when I was a kid and loved lots of science fiction like the dragon books by Anne McCaffrey. I always wanted to write books and luckily I got to make it happen – a publisher gave me the chance.

I enjoyed the book due to the fact that it was interesting. I can remember in one part of the book I was actually worried this was the bit where viola was caught by Geoff I knew something was going to happen but I still was like saying get out of there go inside hurry up in my head.I feel very Proud of my reading group for making this happen, Amazed because we are getting a chance to meet an author. Privileged to be in this reading group. One of the questions I want to ask Ella West is why she chose to write the ending the way she did.

The Author of this book is Ella West. Ella's home is in Australia. In 2015 Ella won the LIANZA Young Adult Award with her book Night Vision. I think that our teacher Mrs Allan chose this author for as because she has read her books. So she thought that we would learn something and enjoy doing it at the same time

And if it were real then it would be on real life news

I predict that this book will be about a girl whos life has been changed due to genetic condition. Who has also see something that could ether put her life is danger or could save others by telling the truth
A girl named viola has a genetic condition xeroderma pigmentosum

Viola lives on a farm that her mother and farther own

Viola and her mum like to play an instrument cold viola

Her mum plays the viola professionally

She sees a car fire/ deaf

Viola takes the money that was stolen from the guy who was killed

The guy goes back to the forest and finds his money has gone


XP is very rare. It is approximated that one in one million people in the us may have XP. XP appears to be somehow more common in places like Japan, North Africa, and the Middle East.

For people with XP it is a common worry about things like cancer .Because Cancer can develop on the scalp, in the eyes, in other cases on the tip of the tongue. Peoples Studies think that people with XP may also have an increased risk of other types of cancer. Even brain tumors. The eyes of people with XP may be painfully sensitive to UV rays from the sun.

For the people who have XP there eyes are sensitive to the light of some laptops even some light in a house

From reading this book I have learnt about the genetic condition called XP before I read this book I didn't know that was even a thing

Geoff harris tugs at the fat man trying to get him out of the boot of the car once the fat man's body leaves the boot of the car geoff drags the fat man along the ground of the forest with all the pine needle out of the way. Geoff pulls the fat man in the passenger side of the car

I think that the police will find the body and accused viola of the deaf of geoff harris cause she would always go out in the forest at night when know noe was awake

Work with a buddy to create a ‘Top Five’ list of the most important parts of the book. Explain why you chose these.

One experience of mine that I can relate to the book is feeling uncomfortable with something new and being completely unaware of it









I think that the book will end with geoff  treating viola to gives his money back
