For Textiles we have been recapping on how to work the machine and how to set it up. We had to backtrack, sew a corner, Sew a 6, 10 and 15 mm seam, sew a zigzag edges and video ourselves doing this or take photos to show to our teacher. Some people in the class found it more difficult then others but got their in the end. Our teacher put up a video on how to thread a needle for those who needed a little help and to just refresh our minds.

The Great Depression and the Treaty of Versailles - Social Studies
When Germany signed the treaty of Versaille they didn’t have a choice, If they had not signed the treaty then Germany would be overcome and they would no longer have that as their country. They were limited to what and how much of their resources they were able to use and lost nearly all power they had over their home. Their armies were reduced from 6 million to 100 thousand and they lost the ability to use submarines, military aircraft and artillery. They had not participated in the war and had strongly believed that the war should not have happened and that they should not have to sign the treaty. Germany was to take all responsibility for the war and admit that it was their fault to make peace and because of the boundaries of which have been enforced, Germany did not have much choice but to agree therefore that is what they did.
The effects of the crash were not as noticeable and did not affect New Zealand much till the 1930, from there on the export prices dropped rapidly. By 1933 the rapid drop in export prices had dropped by 45% throughout that time. By then the country had become quite overwhelmed and reliant on agriculture exports. Unemployment had gone up by 12% by the end of 1930 because of the demands urban business and manufacturers were getting for their goods and services, along with the prices. Those who did have a job, their wages had been cut by an average of 20%. Within the first 6 months in 1932 unemployment increased in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch. The government attempted to fix the unemployment rates by giving men jobs that require travel of long distances for only a small amount of pay.

Street art - Art
From a range of street art that we have been asked to look through, we are to pick a favourite one out of them. The one that I like that is one of my favourite is this one.
![]()
This one caught my eye by the colour and the black outline causing the colour to pop and look a lot more bright and with more life to the street art in general. With the white mixed in it makes it look better instead of just the yellow and purple blend.

Wananga Reflection
For Wananga we had to have a look on my Mahi, either read or do something that we found interesting to reflect on. Before that we had a choice to do a quiz which I did. After that I decided to go through the road code so that when I am older I will be ready to get my licence. There was two units that I completed some of the answers didn't exactly seem right.
The two units that I completed were for the learners licence called basics of the roads and understanding mistakes. It asks you questions like if you are on a unlaned road what to do. It makes you aware of the mistakes of the road. Through the units, it gives you quiz's based on what you just learned.
Matariki research - Music
This term in music we have been focusing on piano and on researching about Matariki. Which is the Maori new year
We had to do a slideshow about Matariki which included 4 tasks. Explaining what Matariki is, in a few sentences or more, listening to Matariki based songs and explaining what we like about it and the music video, once we completed that we were to create and Matariki playlist which required 10 song.
The song we have been learning on piano has been counting stars by OneRepublic. I have enjoyed learning this or though at the start I had no clue what I was doing.

Over fishing - Social studies
Over fishing is when various of species of sea life has been taken to frequently and consistently that the species doesn't have enough time to reproduce. The primary cause of over fishing which is a huge issue threatens our world is poor management. With all these fish taken out of the ocean it creates a imbalance of the food sources to keep the food chain going and to keep the existence of many species alive. When too many fish are taken out at once the population becomes too unable to reproduce creating threats in our ocean and this being a threat it's self.
Due to widespread fishing almost a third of the fish in the ocean is face serious problems that if they keep happening and growing this issue that is already server will get worse maybe even unable to save. Over fishing endangers the ecosystem and those that rely and eat sea food frequently. Many fisheries don't have many rule is any which leads to over fishing and some of the rules that are set make the problem even worse.
