Aim: To learn about a saturated solution and how to make crystals

Definition of solution: 

A liquid mixture, when something is dissolved into a liquid (eg: sugar in water) 

Definition of saturated: 

Having or holding as much as can be absorbed of something (when no more sugar or borax can be dissolved into the water)

In groups of three you will make three different types of crystals and compare the results.

Borax Crystals

Materials

1)3 Tbs of Borax

2)cup

3)pipe cleaner

4)1/2 of hot water in the cup

5)one Tbs spoon

Process

Step 1: Get a cup, pipe cleaner and a peg 

Step 2: Put some hot water in your cup

Step 3: Put your borax into your cup

Step 4: Mix the borax till it dissolves  

Step 5: Put in you pipe cleaners and wait a couple of days

Step 6: Then see how it goes

Sugar Crystals

Materials

1)4 Tbs of sugar

2)cup

3)pipe cleaner

4)3/4 of hot water in the cup

5)one Tbs spoon

Process

Step 1: Get a cup, pipe cleaner and a peg 

Step 2: Put some hot water in your cup

Step 3: Put your sugar into your cup

Step 4: Mix your sugar till dissolved 

Step 5: Put in you pipe cleaners and wait a couple of days

Step 6: Then see how it goes

Salt Crystals

Materials

1)3 Tbs of salt

2)cup

3)pipe cleaner

4)3/4 of hot water in the cup

5)one Tbs spoon

Process

Step 1::get a cup, pipe cleaner and a peg 

Step 2: put some hot water in your cup

Step 3:put your salt into your cup

Step 4:mix your salt 

Step 5:put in you pipe cleaners and wait a couple of days

Step 6:then see how it goes
