Music Performance

In music I have enjoyed learning the piano and learning how to play songs. I can only play one so far though.

What was challenging for me during this subject was learning how to play the ukulele, guitar and performing in front of the class  The biggest challenge I faced was singing in front of my class. that was what my group and i decided to do since we both like singing.

I performed with Tehya and the song we sung was (when I look at you by Miley Cyrus). I'm not sure why we decided to sing this but we practised a few times till we were comfortable and could sing in front of each other without feel nervous. So then we would be comfortable singing with each other

Performing in front of my class made me super nervous, we had the opportunity to not perform but I thought it'd be best to give it a go because i knew if i didn't i'd  be disappointed in myself.

I was actually really disappointed in my performance because my voice was shaky and I know I can do a lot better so I'm not happy with the performance however I am happy I got up and tried.

Neuroscience & Teenage brain development

In health we have been working on a discovery project. We had a choice to either work in pairs or by ourselves. I chose to work with a friend Hope, second thing we did wast find a topic we were interested in. The topic we chose was Neuroscience Teenage brain development.

Once we picked our topic we had to make up 5 questions we wanted to find out and research about them. After that we thought about a way to present our work, We decided to make a news paper with our work on it. we decided to make this because we both thought it'd be something different and new to try.

Starting it was challenging because we were unsure on how we wanted it to look so we searched up news papers to get a idea of what to do. Once we got through the struggle we managed to successfully make it.

Here is our news paper

Water pollution - Essay

Water pollution has been a problem for years. We must realise that if we don’t do something about it, it could seriously affect our world even more than it has already. Unfortunately it is and has only been getting worse.

This serious issue has been caused by rubbish such as plastic bags, plastic bottles, glad wrap, packets and more( being thrown out and ending up in the water, which has and still is harming sea animals) bacteria which sometimes is left in rubbish and ends up contaminating the water  and other toxic things in the ocean, rivers, streams etc. Leaving the water undrinkable, unswimmable and toxic to the environment and humans.

It is endangering and bringing extinction to sea mammals. Thousands of sea mammals such as sea turtles, seals, seabirds and others die each year from either ingesting or being tangled in plastic, potentially endangering a range of sea life. Water pollution is also causing a massive change in climate, causing global warming which is soon to be the reason for our own defeat/extinction.

To fix this problem people need to be more sustainable. People could do this by buying reusable resources or make stuff out of things that you won’t use again or could possibly be harmful for the environment, the world's population and the world in general. Another way of people being sustainable would be for us to put our rubbish in the bin.

In Conclusion we can see that this all rounds up to how important sustainability is and how it links to everyday life. We must make a change before it’s too late.  Even small changes such as being more aware of how we are using our resources can help address climate change.

Pigs heart

Today in Science, Our class dissected a pigs heart.  The equipment we used was Scissors, Scalpel and Tweezers, My group only really used the Scalpel. We looked at the different parts of the heart and where they were. The parts we looked at was the Ventricle, Atrium, Valves, Left & Right side of heart, Arteries and Veins. First thing we had to do was cut open the hart on the left side and analyse it. You could feel how the valve was thicker on the left side then it was on the right, this is because the left side is the side pumping the oxygen around the body that is why  it feels like our heart is on the left or then the right. After we looked at the left side we opened the right. We opened the heart using a scalpel we had to be very careful because it was very sharp.

We have been learning about the parts of the heart and how they function in the body and in general.

We dissected a heart to see where the parts are in the heart, which part is which and, study how they work and help our body.

The parts saw was the left + right side of the heart, Aorta, Heart strings, Valves, Atrium and Ventricles.

I enjoyed dissecting a pigs heart because it was interesting to see what the parts actually look like and where the parts were.

Coraline - Lighting and Colours

In film studies the class have been working on Lighting and Colours. Our tasks was to write a paragraph explaining the use of colour and lighting and how they are used to create the two worlds in Coraline. I displayed this on a google doc with two scenes that are both located in the kitchens just in both worlds.

I am learning how to explain the lighting and colours are used in films.

The way this shows my learning is by showing my understanding of the topic we are doing,

I am not currently wondering anything.

What makes a good leader

Every Wednesday year 9 has leaders day where we do task about what a leader is and what a leader should be like. Last week we had to take a video of ourselves saying what we thought a good leader was and give a example of who we thought was a good leader.

I don't feel comfortable to show my video so I made this instead.

Coraline Sexy paragraph

In English, My class has been working on sexy paragraphs. The task we have been set was to find 4 scenes in the film Coraline and write a sexy paragraph for each 1. the theme I did this about was looks can be deceiving.  I have shown how this theme has been displayed through the camera shots and angles in a slideshow and I hope you learn something about the film.

I am learning to write and understand sexy paragraphs and to analyse the looks of the characters we're also learning about the angle shots in films.

This work shows I'm learning by showing my understanding and showing what I can do.

I am not currently wondering anything.

Group performance

In music this term we are preforming in groups, In my group there is Tehya, Megan and I, we are all singing. The song that we are singing is when i see you by Miley Cyrus. What i think this song is about is that life isn't gonna be easy there is gonna be a lot of up's and down's but as long as you have people who can help you through it you can make it through. We're singing the first 1.30 sec of the song. I'm a little nervous about performing in front of the class but i'm sure we'll be fine.

Coraline

In English my class have been learning about film studies. We have been focusing on Themes and Ideas about a film called Coraline which was made in 2009. Near the end of Term 3 our class watched the Coraline and now we are doing tasks and things to do with the movie. this week we had two tasks to choose from, The tasks i chose was to make a guide booklet which is explaining how each theme is shown in the film using Coggle, creating a mind map showing  examples and explaining one of the themes.

I hope you like and learn something from my work.

what i am learning to do is to analyse the characters, theme and the messages shown in films.

The way this shows I am learning is because as I am presenting my work I am showing my understanding of the work that we have been set .

There is currently nothing I am wondering.

Hands

How your hands work and what parts are there:

Altogether there are 27 bones in your hand.
There are 5 bones in your palm, 8 bones in your wrist and 14 bones for your fingers

A tendon is a type of stringy and connective tissue which attaches your muscle to the forearm bone allowing your phalanges ( bones in you fingers) to move up and down. They also attache muscles to the structure like the eyeball.

The muscles in your hand are thumb Muscles, Palmar Muscles and Little Finger Muscles. The main muscle in your hand that moves your phalanges is called Flexor Digitorum Profundus. This muscle is in the forearm which flexes the fingers to move, contacting and relaxing the tendons.

A short band of tough and flexible fibrous connective tissue which connects two bones or cartilages or holds together a joint. Ligaments also help structure of movement for your fingers so they aren't jelly.

The guitar

Whats challenging about playing this instrument (Acoustic Guitar) is the way you hold it and when it comes to playing a song it can be difficult on your fingers trying to get the right note. The difference between a guitar and a ukulele is for a start a ukulele only has 4 strings and a guitar has 6, the fret-board on the ukulele is way thinner and shorter than the guitar. Guitar can either be acoustic or electric guitars and they offer own unique styles.

A ukulele is easier to play because its easy to hold and their are less strings, but they are both fun and cool to learn and play.

- This is a song that is played only by guitar
Thinking out loud - Ed Sheeran
I like how its slow, calming and soothing with him singing at the same time.

Photography

For this term and next we have been doing photography. For this term we have been working on making photo montages, inspired by an an artiest called Hannah Hoch. She was great at taking parts of photos and putting the parts on other photos. Here are the 3 I've done

I started off doing these this way because I didn't know what to do nor did I know how I wanted it to look. Once an idea was in my head I tried to make it which didn't work out most of the time. I did this by removing the background using remove.bg. Once I removed the background I cropped the bits I didn't want in my montage and connect it with the rest of the art. For my first time doing this I think I did alright I definitely could have done better but it's not as easy as it is to cut out paper into whatever shape you want and sick it on to something else but it's still not terrible.

Ukulele

For the past week or 2 we've been learning the ukulele, the class has been trying to play the way you are. It's been interesting, at fist it was harder which was to be expected but its gotten easier over time

The ukulele was made in Hawaii invented by Manuel Nunes

Term 3 Music

The reason I wanted to do music was because I mainly because it seemed more interesting then most of the other subjects to choose from. I did actual want to do music to because it's an opportunity to learn a instrument. My sister use to come to this school and she really enjoyed music.

I would like to learn to play the piano, when i was in primary school i learnt a little piano but over the years I forgot how.

I don't play an instrument but I use to play the guitar I wasn't that good with it but I still played until it broke, I also played the keyboard

I don't have a favourite singer

5 of my favourite songs are It'll be alright by Dean Lewis, Bruises by Lewis Capaldi, Counting Stars by OneRepublic and Memories by Maroon 5

Sustainability

This is my slideshow about Sustainability that my textiles class has been working on during the past 2 terms. At first we did a class project witch was beeswax wrap witch you can see on this slide show and my previous blog posts.
After we finished the beeswax warps we had make a brain storm of things we could create to do with sustainability.
Out of the things on our brainstorms we had to pick one we wanted to do and complete.
My friend Anneleise and I happened to pick the same thing so we worked together. We both decided to try to make worn down/ old crayons into candles, as shown on the slide it took us 5 attempts, including our final to get it done.
We worked extremely hard and put a lot of work into this and we are surprised on how it worked considering we have never done it before. It was great to work Anneleise though this I don't think I would have worked this hard if it weren't for her. It was a fun, a little stressful and more.

Hello, Goodbye

For wananga this week our class has been working on A individual poem while sitting with people we don't usually sit with. Hello alarm waking me up in the morning
Goodbye sleep in’s

Hello face to face conversations
Goodbye google meets

Hello school packed with people
Goodbye home, family and all

Hello early dinners

Life in the middle ages

For social studies we have been working on black death. Witch I think is a bit of a quinncidence that when this covid-19 outbreak struck we were and still are learning about a pandemic, Also know as the black plague a deadly bacteria. Near the end of term 1 I was ready to blog my timeline l labelled as Where the black death fits in history.

During that time the people thought it was the cats that had caused this deadly outbreak, so they gathered up all the cats . But little did they know they caught the wrong thing it was infected fleas that were on the rats. The rats travelled and so did the bacteria and as the rats died the fleas would jump to people. 25 million  that is how many people died

What is the difference between a pandemic and a epidemic, A pandemic is a worldwide out break like covid-19. As it happens some pandemics can take longer to spread then other and some can be faster. A epidemic is a illness or a disease that sickens a majority of people in a area, community or region

 Key words:
Clergy: A person to take charge of religious duties
Lord: A man of noble high office known as a nobleman.
Peasants: A poor farmer who owns little or nothing
Village: An area where peasants live

here is my medieval society pyramid

To me a medieval society pyramid looks a bit like a food chain but instead of going up in what will eat what. If a shark was hungry and a fish is swimming by the shark would come along a eat it. Not saying a human will eat a human but the way it is going up it goes from poorest to richest

I see poor people asking for help and others turning away I see sadness.
what I think life in the middle ages were like
they were though and the days dragged longer. peasants, serfs and farmers spent most of there time hoping for better and working for the lords who worked for the king. The nights spent there time on the horses as a part of the kings army. lords saw peasants, serfs and farmers as slaves. everyone looked out for themselves.

Most people though the middle ages lived out in the country while they worked as farmers. There was usually a local lord witch lived in big house (AKA a manor or castle). The local peasants would work the land for the lord. "Villeins" is what the peasants called the lords
