Art

For art we were asked to draw a item our teacher put in front of us, this was for her to see how comfortable we are with her seeing us draw and for her to see how well we draw. we then had to draw a few items put together we took a photo and this is called a still life, We have been learning to use tone and shading in our drawings

Here is my still life and another drawing we were asked to do

the drawing on the left bottom corner is my still life and the drawing that takes up most the page is a telephone of which we were asked to draw

Slave triangle

The spirituals were used to send a message to help the slaves escape without the English knowing they also used it for motivation to keep working. They were a way for slaves to express there feeling as they we also passed down from generations .

Wade in the water. Wade in the water was used as a message telling the slaves to wade in the water so the dogs couldn't track them.

Wade in the water
Wade in the water
Children wade, in the water
God's gonna trouble the water
Who's that young girl dressed in red
Wade in the water
Must be the children that Moses led
God's gonna trouble the water
Wade in the water, wade in the water children
Wade in the water,
God's gonna trouble the water
Who's that young girl dressed in white
Wade in the water
Must be the children of the Israelite
Oh, God's gonna trouble the water
Wade in the water is another way of saying walk on the water indicating getting off the ship into the water  because as stated earlier going through the water make it so the dogs can't track them.

Harriet Tubman was a slave that escaped only to find that her husband had left her for another woman. Harriet help may other slaves escape, she conducted underground railroads from south american to Canada. It was her who told the slaves to wade in the water

English - Introduction to Creative writing

For English, we have been set a range of tasks to complete one of which was writing a paragraph without the use of saw, taste, felt, and hear.

The sent of seawater lingered through the air, The water crashed onto the surface and retreated back out to sea as the sand absorbed the last of the water. As I witnessed the sunshine and shimmer on the light blue ocean the seagulls squirmed and squealed to each other fighting over the few bits of food they could find, the sand pushed against me with the guidance of a gush of wind. An elegant rush of flavor hit my mouth.

A Simile is a figure of speech that compares two things also highlights the similarity between two things using words such as like or as.

The sky is as blue as the ocean and the clouds are like waves.

A Metaphor creates an implicit comparison.

A Metaphor you may hear quite often maybe There are more fish in the sea.

Language Features

We were asked to pick 3 out of 5 words and find the definition and an example for each

Summer

The sun burns brightly

It is quite spectacular

And very shiny

Winter

Ice clings to the tree

Footprints engraved in the snow

Snowmen linger on each street

Autumn

It's the time of year

As all leaf scatter around

creating piles

Spring

The flowers blooming

smell of pollen in the air

colour in the area

Slam poetry

I don't have a favorite poem. These poets didn't excite or interest me. I feel like they could be better with maybe an added beat or just something to make them more interesting something to hook listeners.

Physical or chemical change

Today in science we did a experiment on zinc oxide

I think there will be possibly be sparks because of the reaction of heat to chemicals. It could turn yellow.

  1. Sample of zno - zinc oxide
  2. Heat source - heat plate
  3. Scales
  4. Heat proof container
  5. Tongs
  6. Heat proof mat
Get sample of zno in an evaporating dish
Weigh the zno + container - record weigh
Heat container + zno on hot plate
Observe any changes - use phone for before and after photos or video
Take off heat and put on heat proof mat
Let cool - observe - photos
Reweigh

Conclusion:
it turned slightly yellow once put on heat plate and left there for a while, after a while the colour went back to white there for the change was physical. after we put the zno in the evaporating dish we the weighed it, which weighed 37 once we took it off the heat plate we weighed it again which hadn't changed and still weighs 37
